Retort Pouch
Retort pouches are made from multi-layer laminates (typically PET/aluminum foil/nylon/CPP or similar structures) designed to survive retort sterilization at 250 degrees F (121 degrees C) and pressures of 15 to 20 PSI for up to 60 minutes. The seal layers must maintain integrity through the entire thermal cycle. The aluminum foil layer provides a near-total oxygen and moisture barrier for extended shelf life.
Retort pouches are used for shelf-stable ready meals, wet pet food, tuna, soups, sauces, and military rations (MREs).
