Retail Ready Packaging (RRP)
Retail Ready Packaging (also called Shelf-Ready Packaging or SRP) is a corrugated container designed to go directly from the distribution truck to the retail shelf. It typically consists of a tray (the secondary packaging) and a removable cover (the lid that protects during transit). The cover separates from the tray along a perforation line, and the remaining tray becomes the shelf display. The whole system is made from corrugated cardboard with flexo, preprint, or litho printing for branded shelf presence.
RRP is driven by retailer requirements from chains like Walmart, Costco, and Target, each with their own specifications for dimensions, opening mechanisms, and branding.
