Paint-Style Can
The paint-style can is a cylindrical container made from tinplate with a press-fit lever lid that seats into a rolled lip on the can body. The lid design dates back to 1877 when Sherwin-Williams patented the original concept for premixed paint. The tight fit between the lid groove and the can rim creates a secure seal, and optional spring clips add extra closure security during transport.
While originally built for paint and coatings, this format is now used for candles, gourmet food products (hot chocolate, powders, confectionery), tea, coffee, herbs, and spices.
